I love history. I love learning. I have researched the African continent for quite some time now and I’m ready to learn about other places; other continents; other cultures. But this, within itself, is an issue. Each time I sit, eager to learn about a new continent, a new culture, I am met with the over-riding determination to keep learning about Africa. It is an invisible pull that continuously draws me in.
The curiosity to find out everything I can about this place that evades our Western perceptions grabs hold and I cannot shake it. The determination to know as much as possible about the land of my ancestors has become an unquenchable thirst. The power that comes from knowing just a piece of where my ancestors originated from gives a whole new meaning to being a Black American.
While my love of history is not going anywhere, neither is my love for Africa. Dedicating my life to this endeavor is why I am here on the planet. This is my purpose – to research, develop, and actively participate in my past, present, and future.
